| Mike Alonzo was born in New Orleans, La. While serving in the Marines he first went to California; he liked it so much he stayed and has forever been influenced by the art produced there. Always an artist at heart, after a 26 year career with McDonnell Douglas, Mike took and early retirement and has since been able to devote more time to his art.
Alonzo has studied with Dirk Smit, Paul Strisik, Charles Movalli and Joyce Pike. He has taught and demonstrated art and also received many awards; including an award in the Santa Barbara Oil Painters of America Show. Alonzo paints in a style he always thought of as “New England”, which is now referred to as “Plein Air”. Mike is a member of the Western North Carolina Plein Air Painters and resides in Hendersonville, NC. |
